This includes commencing civil proceedings, working with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution (CDPP) to secure criminal convictions and taking administrative action such as banning a person from holding a Directorship, working in the Financial Services Industry and cancelling Australian Financial Services Licenses. EWA consists of three teams: Financial Services, Market Integrity and Corporate Governance.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team and get hands-on experience in all the work EWA undertakes.
As Operational Support Officer, you will be required to:
- Support a variety of projects across EWA
- Assist project teams to compile legal briefs
- Support project teams in the use of ASIC's compulsory powers
- Gather information and intelligence, and analyse specific information to identify data trends or abnormalities
- Contribute to the investigation of suspected misconduct related to ASIC's areas of responsibility

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a customer service environment, and take a thorough, organized and methodical approach to managing multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines. You will be a supportive team player, with enthusiasm for up-skilling and increasing your knowledge through on-the-job experience. This role also calls for strong communication skills, and intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
This role will be ideally suited to someone with an interest in the Australian financial system and markets and contributing to Australia's overall economic reputation and wellbeing. Prior or current studies in law, commerce, finance or business will also be highly regarded.
ASIC can offer you a variety of interesting and challenging work. We provide the support for our employees to develop professionally and succeed. ASIC offers a range of programs such as flexible work practices and development programs which include a focus on gender equity and women in leadership.
