ASIC is recruiting an EL2 Senior Adviser to join its Markets Group – FINTECH team. In this strategic role, you will influence how Australia regulates emerging technologies, digital assets and innovative business models.

  • Salary between $152,074 - $168,164 + 15.4% superannuation

Our team

ASIC's Markets Group is responsible for maintaining trust and confidence in Australia's financial markets and ensuring market participants, infrastructure providers and gatekeepers operate with integrity, resilience and transparency. The group oversees the full regulatory lifecycle, including supervision, triage, investigation and enforcement, while also providing regulatory advice, assessing applications and engaging with stakeholders.

Within the group, the FINTECH team focuses on emerging digital business models, innovation and competition, helping shape regulatory frameworks that support safe, resilient and transparent markets as they continue to evolve.

 

The role

As an EL2 Senior Adviser, you will lead and deliver strategic regulatory initiatives across fintech, digital assets and innovation.

You will:

  • Lead fintech work programs aligned to ASIC's strategic priorities.
  • Provide expert advice on complex regulatory, policy and law reform issues.
  • Implement the Government's recent digital asset reforms
  • Shape ASIC's supervision of fintech and digital asset businesses, including licensing and regulatory policy.
  • Build strategic relationships with senior stakeholders across government, industry and ASIC.
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities in areas such as blockchain, tokenisation and AI.
  • Represent ASIC externally while driving continuous improvement and uplifting capability across fintech and digital finance

 

About you  

You will thrive in this role if you enjoy working at the intersection of regulation, innovation and strategy. We are looking for a confident and commercially aware leader who can navigate complexity, build trusted relationships and help shape ASIC's approach to fintech and digital finance in a rapidly evolving environment.

You bring:

  • Strong experience in fintech, financial services, regulation or public policy, ideally in a senior advisory or leadership role
  • A strong understanding of financial markets, digital assets and emerging technologies, and the ability to apply that knowledge in a regulatory context
  • Sound understanding of regulatory strategy and practice, including from a compliance and supervision perspective
  • Proven ability to provide clear, strategic advice to senior leaders and contribute to high-quality decision-making
  • Excellent judgement, with strong analytical, problem-solving and project leadership skills
  • The confidence to build strong stakeholder relationships and influence across government, industry and internal teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into practical and persuasive advice
