Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process has four stages:

  1. Application
  2. Selection
  3. Offer
  4. Organisational suitability assessment

Each stage in the process will help us find the best people for ASIC. To be eligible to apply for a job with ASIC, you must be an Australian citizen.

Application - Recruitment Process

We ask that you submit a cover letter (1 page) and reflect the selection criteria -highlighting your skills, previous experience and achievements - in your CV (4-5 pages).

You are not required to submit a supporting document that addresses the selection criteria (unless specified).

All our jobs have a unique job reference number. Please quote this on your cover letter.

Once your application has been received and the closing date has passed, your application will be reviewed. Should you progress to the interview stage, you will be notified by phone from one of our recruitment consultants.

Selection - Recruitment Process

Your recruitment consultant will discuss the selection process in more detail at the relevant time.

However, a typical process is likely to include:

  • A phone screen with the recruitment consultant.
  • An interview with the selection panel which will include the manager.
  • A reference check for the preferred candidate/s. Two verbal references will be taken and must include your current manager. Your peers or friends are not suitable referees.

At times, the process may also include:

  • A second interview.
  • An online psychometric or skill assessment either at the application or interview stage. These assessments provide us the additional information against the selection criteria which are critical for the job.

Offer - Recruitment Process

If you are successful, a verbal offer will be made by your recruitment consultant or manager.

We will then send you an offer pack which will include an offer letter, information on working at ASIC, your role and employment conditions and a pre-engagement assessment pack.

Assessment - Recruitment Process

Organisational suitability assessment

As part of the offer, you will be required to satisfactorily complete ASIC’s Suitability and Baseline Assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to ensure that you are suitable to work in ASIC’s unique regulatory environment and gain a Government security clearance at the Baseline level.

The questions are comprehensive and you will have to provide biographical information including travel history, education, employment history, current and previous address history and membership with professional groups. Some of the information provided will be validated with other Government agencies.

If you are deemed as not being suitable to work at ASIC or to hold a Government security clearance, your employment with ASIC will not continue.

The ASIC security team will be able to provide you with more information on the ASIC Suitability and Baseline Assessment, they are contactable at
